To use audio input for piano practice, Pianotes needs to learn how your specific piano sounds. This process is called "calibration" and involves two simple steps:
First, we record the ambient sound in your room when no piano keys are pressed. This helps filter out background noise for better note detection.
Then, you'll play each piano key individually so Pianotes can learn its unique "fingerprint" - the specific sound characteristics of that key on your piano.
Every piano sounds different due to room acoustics, piano type, microphone position, and tuning. By learning your piano's specific sound, Pianotes can accurately detect which keys you're playing during practice.
